Chelsea set to replace Michael Emenalo with Frank Lampard

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is being lined up as a surprise replacement for departed Michael Emenalo as the Blues technical director, as per reports.

Frank Lampard has been doing Television punditry work since retiring from Professional football but has been strongly linked with a coaching role at the club after he undertook his coaching badges while helping out Jody Morris with the U-18s.

And the UEFA Champions League winner has been touted to replace Emenalo, as per the Daily Express.

The Nigerian surprisingly announced his exit from the west London club on Monday in the aftermath of the club’s 1-0 victory over rivals Manchester United on Sunday. In the mean term, Billionaire owner Roman Abramovich’s right-hand woman and Director Marina Granovskaia is to assume the role but Chelsea are searching for a successor in the long-term.

Frank Lampard would be a famous choice among the supporters, although senior officials were questioning the Englishman’s credentials for the position. However, they agreed that the appointment should be used to calm relations between Antonio Conte and the Russian owner.

The Russian owner spoke openly with Antonio Conte when he visited the club’s Cobham training base last week but Chelsea’s victory over Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United looks to have calmed tensions around the Bridge.
