Chelsea opts to chase Seria A goal machine

Premier League giants Chelsea have struggled in the striking department this season and the Blues have been linked with several players to solve the problem when the transfer window reopens in the next few weeks.

Dries Mertens (Napoli and Belgium), Gonzalo Higuain (AC Milan and Argentina) and Mauro Icardi (Inter Milan and Argentina) are some of the names that have been touted as potential striker addition for the Blues.

The latest striker to be mentioned is Napoli hitman Arkadiusz Milik who has been in very good form for his Italian Serie A side in the new campaign.

The Portuguese international player has battled back from two serious knee injuries since he joined Napoli from Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2016.

He has scored eight goals and providing one assist in 14 Italian Serie A games this season and this is in stark contrast to the form of the Chelsea strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

Spanish international Morata has struggled to impose himself on the Chelsea first team since his £57m last summer.

He has scored just five goals in 14 league games, while French World Cup winner Giroud has managed just one league goal all season.

Olivier Giroud joined Chelsea from London rivals Arsenal in a £18m deal in the penultimate transfer window in January.
