Lyon legend Cris has revealed that it would be difficult for the French Ligue 1 club to hold on to highly rated midfielder Houssem Aouar amidst transfer rumours linking him with a move away from Groupama Stadium.
The retired Brazilian centre-back believes that it would be difficult for the Champions League campaigners to resist the overtures of European heavyweights for their prized asset.
Cris spoke about the Lyon schemer in a chat with RMC Sport.
Houssem Aouar had earlier revealed that he has no problem in staying at the club throughout his career and that he wants to emulate the model AS Roma legend Francesco Totti adopted at the Italian capital club.
2006 World Cup winner and ex-Roma striker spent his entire football career at the Stadio Olimpico.
It could be very difficult for Aouar to pull off as he is already attracting interests from the best clubs on the European football scene.
The 20-year-old has emerged as a transfer target for both Liverpool and Spanish champions Barcelona ahead of the winter transfer window.
Since breaking into the Lyon team in 2017, Houssem Aouar has scored 11 goals in 48 appearances.
He has scored five goals and provided four assists in 17 matches in all competitions this season.
