Ed Woodward reveals his candidate for big Man United role

Man United have already agreed on a restructuring of the club which makes them seek for a sporting director that will take charge of other roles including transfer activities.

The need for a sporting director arose with Jose Mourinho, before his sack as the Red Devils boss had an outburst with the club executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward over his inability to secure the signature of his transfer targets.

However, a number of names have been motioned as candidates for the position but the latest report reveals that the executive vice-chairman seeks to have someone emerge from within and he is considering the head of youth development John Murtough for the job.

It is therefore reported that Ed Woodward has already told manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of his wish for the position and it has been revealed that John Murtough is favoured for the position because of his relationship with the executive vice-chairman.

However, it is reported that should John Murtough be given the nod for the job, his first assignment would be to land Swansea star Daniel James in this summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are hoping to land a number of new faces at the club ahead of the coming season.
