A lot of fans may be wondering why the Gunners are yet to officially announce the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Sokratis. Few months ago, BBC said Arsenal were prepared to seal the signing of the player but now the Greek star is flying to the London to complete the much-anticipated transfer, as his German side reportedly stalled a formal announcement until this month.
Dortmund delay announcement
Due to the Bundesliga club’s preferences, they’d prefer to announce the transfer deal after July first, because of the club’s financial year starting. This is because they offloaded Dembele in their present financial year.
The Greece international defender will join Arsenal for only £14m because he refused to agree to extend his current contract at Borussia Dortmund, which had only 12months remaining.
Sokratis spotted traveling
On Sunday, July 1, photo’s emerged of the defender traveling to the City of London to complete the transfer.
Mislintat was greatly influential in bringing both Gabon star Aubameyang and Armenian Mkhitaryan to the side in the winter window and now he is set to bring in another ex- Dortmund player in defender Sokratis.
Sokratis will bring height, experience and aggression to an Arsenal backline that often lacks all three of those departments on the pitch.
