According to the Express, Premier League giants Chelsea are speculated to be sniffing around Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld and are closely monitoring his contract situation at the North London club.
Toby could leave
A number of fans expect the centre-half to leave the White Hart lane this summer transfer window. The Belgium international’s contract runs out in the summer of 2020 but has a clause in his deal that will allow him to depart the club for £25million in 2019 if no new contract is agreed.
Spurs must decide on whether to sell the central defender now, or permit him to leave the club for a bargain prise instead.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is thought to have penciled Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt as a possible replacement for the 29-year-old, should he eventually leave the club, and would cost about £45million.
United also keen
Second-placed Manchester United are also believed to be keen on the Belgian, but some fans believe it would be absolute madness if Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy permit him to join an English Premier League rival, as he’s regarded as one of the best central defender in the Premier league.
Some football fans believe the defender should be shipped off to top European clubs like Paris Saint Germain or Real Madrid instead, who can afford to pay his £150,000-weekly demands.
