According to reports, Premier League giants Manchester United out to hijack Merseyside giants Liverpool in the transfer market as both sides look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next campaign.

Reinforcement required at Old Trafford

United will see England international Michael Carrick hang his boots at the end of the current season, while doubts remain over Belgium international Marouane Fellaini’s Man Utd future as his deal runs out this summer winter, and according to the Metro, he has decided to seek a fresh challenge.

In turn, Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho will have to add top quality and depth in that position of his team as he won’t have enough players as he is to compete favourably on all fronts going forward.

As per The Daily Star, the Reds were leading the transfer race for Napoli ace Jorginho, but it’s suggested that the United boss has entered the transfer race with the Red Devils tipped to make a £50million offer for the Italy international midfielder.

Firstly, it remains to be viewed whether or not the player can be lured away from the Serie A side. The 26-year-old is playing a pivotal role in Maurizio Sarri’s team as they continue to work towards winning the Serie A title this term.
