Deal Almost Done As Liverpool Reportedly Approve Player’s Sale

According to reports in Spain, Barcelona are ‘a matter of hours’ away from signing Brazilian Philippe Coutinho from Premier League giant Liverpool.

According to Sport, Barcelona representatives flew to the City of Liverpool on Tuesday to round off a deal and are aiming to unveil the Brazilian as their freshest signing later in the week.

The same publication claims that FC Barcelona’s offer will be worth about €90 million (£82m) plus add-ons.

Sport publication also claim that Red’s owners have agreed to sell the 25-year-old to the Spanish giant, despite strong resistance from manager Jurgen Klopp, who wants to keep the midfielder at Anfield Stadium.

The Brazil international attacker is seen as a replacement for country team mate Neymar, who joined Ligue 1 runner-up Paris Saint-Germain in a world transfer record deal worth a reported £198m last week.

Publicly, the Reds have stayed adamant that the Brazilian is not for sale this summer transfer window, but Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes the Merseyside giant will be unable to stop the exciting midfielder from leaving.

Souness said it would be a major blow for his former team, but does not think Liverpool manager should keep a player who is not fully committed to his current club side.
