Naby Keita

According to the Liverpool Echo, Naby Keita has undergone a medical examination after Merseyside giant Liverpool agreed on a club transfer record deal to sign the midfield maestro from RB Leipzig but he won’t arrive Anfield until next summer.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been pursuing Keita all summer after identifying him as one of his primary transfer targets, but the Reds found it hard to agree on a transfer fee with RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga outfit refused to cash in on the midfielder this summer and turned down some bids from the Reds earlier in the summer, despite the midfielder declaring his intention to leave.

It seemed Liverpool would have to battle several top European clubs for Keita when his £48million buyout is due for activation next summer.

However, as per Liverpool Echo, the club have reportedly agreed on a deal that will see them cough out about £48m to capture the 22-year-old midfielder on July 1st, 2018.

The same Publications says Keita has undergone a medical examination in Wilmslow this afternoon ahead of a club record transfer move to Anfield Stadium as it eclipses the £36.9m the Reds paid for Egyptian Mohamed Salah.

The Guinea has performed brilliantly for RB Leipzig since signing from Red Bull Salzburg two seasons ago and helped his club finish second in the German Bundesliga last season.
