Chelsea have been handed a massive blow in their pursuit of Real Madrid centre back Képler Laveran Lima Ferreira commonly known as Pepe.
Accord to report from Bleacher report, the tough tackling defender has committed his future to Madrid, by signing a two years contract extension, which will soon be announced.
The Portuguese international was linked with a move to Premier League during the summer, with both Chelsea and Manchester City interested in his services.
The energetic and controversial defender, known for his aggressive behavior towards players and officials moved to Madrid in 2007 from home club FC Porto.
Since his arrival at Santiago Bernabeu in 2007, the powerful defender has help the Los Blancos win many trophies, including two UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey Cup and two Supercopa de Esparia.
Pepe who will be 34 years in February next year is currently out with an injury and didn’t travel to Portugal over the week as his team defeated Sporting CP by 2-1 in the prestigious UEFA Champions League match.
The veteran defender was part of the Portugal national team squad that won the recently concluded EURO Cup in France.
With this latest development, Chelsea Boss Antonio Conte will have to look elsewhere for another defender, if he wants to reinforce his defence in January.
