Manchester United are allegedly close to sealing the £80million move for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as the clubs first summer signing.

The Serbia international midfielder has long been heavily linked with United after a good season and it now seems his transfer to Old Trafford is edging even closer.

With Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho in need of midfield reinforcement as he faces losing England international Michael Carrick to retirement and Belgium midfielder Marouane Fellaini on a free transfer if he cannot agree to a fresh contract, this development will come as a huge relief to Manchester United supporters.

As per the Sun, there has been a major breakthrough in negotiations as regards Milinkovic-Savic, with a £80million move now expected to happen due to Jose Mourinho using his special connections with Milinkovic-Savic’s representative Mateja Kezman.

Kezman played under the Portuguese tactician at Chelsea and Mourinho has taken advantage of this connection to complete what would be Manchester United’s second most expensive signing, as per the Sun.

This seems a good investment for a footballer widely seen as one of the best midfielders in the whole of Europe, as well as one of the top youngsters coming through.
