However, the same article now states that the Red Devils could be forced to seek alternatives because he is very close to agreeing on a fresh contract with the Serie A champions.

The same report carries quotes from club chief Giuseppe Marrotta, who has looked to underline his confidence that the Brazilian will commit his entire future to the Italian side.
The Brazil international defender is no stranger to being connected with a switch to the English Premier League, with the South American having been heavily tipped as a transfer target for FA Cup winners Chelsea in the summer last year.
However, a move did not happen as the player ended up staying back in Turin for the campaign.
The Red Devils are believed to be in the market for a couple of new players this summer transfer window as they look to assemble a team capable of challenging for the League title next term.
