Jose Mourinho could include Manchester United star and England international defender Chris Smalling in a bid for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
This was according to the Daily Star, who claim that the Portuguese tactician may include the centre-half in a deal to appease Arsenal in order to land Alexis Sanchez.
The news publication are also claiming that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is in the transfer market for a centre-back, an issue that the French tactician may have the opportunity to solve should the Red Devils offer Chris Smalling as a part exchange of a deal for the Chilean international forward.
Since the English man arrived at Old Trafford from English Championship club Fulham back in 2010, he has successfully managed to make his mark for the Manchester club.
In 268 matches for the English topflight club, the defender has managed to score 14 goals and provided four assists, a good number for a centre-half.
So far this campaign, the defender has featured regularly for United, with the 28-year-old defender playing 25 matches across all competitions for Mourinho’s side.
The last time Arsenal had a top quality centre-back was during the days of Sol Campbell and Ivorian Kolo Toure, so should the United defender be included in the Sanchez deal, manager Arsen Wenger would have a huge decision on his hands to make.
