According to reports, Chelsea are close to confirming that they have secured the signature of Emerson Palmieri from Serie A side AS Roma on Monday.
Brazilian to be Unveiled as Chelsea player
It’s suggested by Italian news publication Gazzetta dello Sport, as cited in a recent report from the British outlet Daily Mail, that the Premier League Champions will unveil the defender as their new recruit at the beginning of the week after ending negotiations with the Italian side.
Chelsea have been chasing the Brazilian throughout this winter transfer window, and the Blues are expected to unveil their new fullback this week in a deal worth around £18million, plus £4million in add-ons.
Left-back hunt
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has been in the transfer market for a good left-back to help provide stiff competition for Spaniard Marcos Alonso at Stamford Bridge and it looks like Emerson has been brought in to fulfil this need.
The 23-year-old defender is not the only AS Roma player who the Blues have been chasing, though, and Antonio Conte is visibly keen on signing former Premier League striker Edin Dzeko.
However, with the Bosnia international’s wage request looking to be somewhat on the high side, it looks like a deal might not be struck.
