Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is very close to join Manchester City despite keen interest from Chelsea, according to reports.
The Gunners star has continued to remain in the headlines due to increasing speculation over his future at the Emirates and continues to stall on renewing his contract at North London.
Sanchez further fuelled the speculations after admitting he wants to remain in London with a ‘winning team’, suggesting that he wants a move to the Blues. He said: ‘I am happy in London and hope to finish my contract there, ‘I’d like to stay in the city but with a team that is winning things, that has a winning mentality.
‘I’m 28 years old, I still have a lot of years ahead of me. I am a player who looks after himself.’
However, reports in Chilean outlet, Radio Cooperativa claim that Manchester City have moved ahead of the league leaders, Chelsea in the race to sign the 28-year-old and are ready to offer Arsenal up to £50million transfer fee with a weekly wage around £200,000.
It is understood that Pep Guardiola has met Sanchez and has convinced him to make the switch to the Etihad stadium. Arsenal could be tempted by the mouth-watering offer by their Premier League rivals despite Wenger’s comments that the club will not sell any of their stars to rivals again.
