According to Daily Star, Premier League giant, Manchester United are close to sanctioning the sale of defender Chris Smalling to Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.
The England international has been a loyal player for United ever since joining the Old Trafford club from Fulham back in 2010, and the Centre half has helped United to two Premier League titles since moving to Old Trafford.
Although Smalling has not really managed to fulfill his potential at Old Trafford, and having struggled to impress United manager Jose Mourinho last season, it seems the Englishman will leave Old Trafford this summer transfer window– especially with the Red Devils having spent big to sign the duo of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly recently.
Quite some English clubs are thought to be interested in signing Smalling this summer, and the Baggies have strongly been credited with an interest in the unsettled United defender.
West Brom manager Tony Pulis is thought to be an admirer of the 27-year-old’s abilities, and the club are expected to submit a bid of around £10million for the towering defender, once the team returns from the Hong Kong leg of their pre-season training tour of Asia.
The offer will most likely be accepted by Manchester United because manager Jose Mourinho currently has a lot of options to choose from in defence.
