Eden Hazard had reason to be pleased with the side’s 1-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth last Saturday.
Speaking to newsmen after the match, the Belgium star explained that the side’s lack of clean sheets in recent matches had got to Thibaut Courtois, who finally enjoyed a clean sheet on Saturday.
The Blues haven’t made a very good start to this League season, with three defeats IN The Premier League so far this season as they look to keep chasing and close up the nine points gap, off league leaders Manchester City.
And notwithstanding a recent recovery with two victories against Watford and Everton back to back, the Blues hadn’t kept a clean sheet in all competitions since September when they defeated Stoke City 4-0.
The Belgian forward showed his class to think of club and country team-mate Thibaut Courtois, suggesting after that run of games, it had affected the Chelsea first-choice goalkeeper’s confidence.
Hazard told Chelsea’s official site: ‘I [Eden Hazard] think Thibaut [Courtois] needed this clean sheet [against Bournemouth] for the confidence and also the defensive players [defenders] won the clean sheet, but all the team [players] deserved this [win], we [the team] did well defensively,’.
He further stated that he felt his side were still in the Premier League title race and outlined his personal ambition to turn things around for better after an early season slump.
