In what will sound as a shock and surprise news to Chelsea fans, Spain goal poacher Diego Costa has been linked to Serie A club Inter Milan in January transfer window.
According to report from The Express, the former European champions are ready to test the Blues resolve with a £50million bid for the striker services.
It is thought that Inter new owners, Suning Holdings Group are making a summer move for Atletico Madrid head Coach Diego Simeone, who will be leaving the La Liga club next summer for a new challenge. They hope they will be able to use Simeone’s influence to tempt Costa away from Stamford Bridge.
Costa has been on sparkling form for the Blues this season. He has managed to score a total of 10 goals in 13 EPL matches for Chelsea so far.
A deal for Costa will likely not materialize, as the Blues are making plans to extend the player’s contract wich ends in 2019 and also increase his weekly wages from £150,000 to £200,000-a-week.
It will be recalled that Atletico Madrid bided for Costa last summer after the player reportedly said he was making a return to his old club. But the bid was rejected by Chelsea, who sees the striker as a valuable asset to the team.
