Chelsea set to move for Manchester United target Victor Lindelof in the January transfer window, according to sources.
The 22-year-old defender was a subject of interest from the Old Trafford earlier this month and almost completed a transfer before Jose Mourinho reportedly pulled the plug on the deal due to the £38 million valuation of the Benfica defender.
The Portuguese boss said: “No, I wait for Bailly. I hope the three can control the situation in those eight matches.
“I will try to rest one in every game. On Saturday I will rest one, against Hull another – and we’ll try to make a rotation between these three.
“We still have Daley Blind as the fourth defender in case we need him to play there and we also have Michael Carrick, so let’s try.”
Recent reports have it that Chelsea are now preparing an audacious bid to sign Lindelof and offer him a way out of Benfica.
His transfer could trigger the departures of out of favour defensive duo of John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic who are already frustrated with their lack of chances so far in the current campaign.
It is understood that Antonio Conte is keen on bringing defensive reinforcements to his current squad despite their comfortable stance on the Premier League.
