According to new reports from the Sun, Everton are currently in a three way battle with the duo of Liverpool and Manchester City to sign Tom Heaton from Burnley. This season so far, 30-year-old Heaton continues being impressive, helping his side occupy the 13th position on the Epl table.
He has kept five clean sheets during the season and was also called up to the England national team last season. On his contract at Turf Moor, Tom Heaton still has three and a half years remaining. And we understand that the release clause on his contract will only become active should Burnley be relegated. It was also reported that Burnley are demanding a fee in excess of £15 million for Heaton who joined the club from Bristol in 2013 for a bargain of £500,000.
Both Manchester City and Liverpool have recently been in the news in search for new goalkeepers. And the duo are said to be in the hunt for Heaton as are Everton who are looking to upgrade current options Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenberg.
We think however that if Man City should submit an offer, it is most likely they are the ones that will get him. Tom stand a good chance of getting first team action due to Bravo’s questionable form this season. And of course, the attractive salary and prospect of playing amongst some of the world’s best players will also influence Heaton to join City.
