According to reports, Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to pay £106million to beat rivals Arsenal to the signature of FC Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele in a stunning transfer move.
Chelsea willing to meet the valuation
As per Don Balon, Chelsea are close to meeting Barcelona’s valuation of the youngster with that potential bid, which comes close to equaling what the La Liga giant paid for the starlet last summer.
It’s fair to say that the France international has not shone as expected for FC Barcelona this campaign, despite looking like one of Europe’s most exciting young players during his time at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Still, the Blues clearly feel the player could do a good job for them, with reports stating Chelsea believe Dembele could ‘explode’ in England.
Playing style could fit Premier League
It may be that the player’s pace and style of play could suite the Premier League game than the La Liga, and the Blues are set to pay huge to bring the forward to West London.
This development would be a major blow for Premier League rivals Arsenal, however, with reports recently linking Dembele, 20, with Arsenal, even if the player wasn’t too interested to take them up on that bid.
The Blues could surely do with some changes in attack next term after some poor displays from the likes of Morata this season, while Belgium superstar Eden Hazard has also not always look good.
If the Chelsea target displays the sort of form he showed in his Rennes and Borussia Dortmund days, he could prove a good signing for the Blues or any other top side.
