Chelsea Face Man Utd Threat For Serie A Defender

Alessio Romagnoli

Chelsea will have to fend off the threat of Premier League top four rivals Manchester United in their bid to sign highly rated AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli.

This is according to the publication from popular Italian transfer news portal Calciomercato which claimed that both clubs will do battle for Romagnoli.

The 24-year-old is having a stellar season for the Rossoneri who have been able to break into the top four in the Italian Serie this term.

In one of his recent interviews, AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso said that Romagnoli has no price amidst the transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the San Siro.

The Italian international was previously linked with a move to Chelsea last summer when Maurizio Sarri was made the Blues manager.

Alessio Romagnoli was one of several Italy-based players linked with a Chelsea transfer but the Blues didn’t sign any defender at the end of last summer’s transfer window.

Chelsea were able to sign Jorginho from Italian top flight club Napoli in a £57m deal.

The Italian international scored on his Premier League debut from the penalty spot and he has been a big part of the newly introduced playing style at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri.
