According to British media reports, FA Cup winners Chelsea are set to break their transfer record by ‘coughing out’ £100million to land striker Robert Lewandowski from German side Bayern Munich.
Chelsea desperately keen on the prolific striker
The Daily Telegraph, as cited by Metro, is claiming that Chelsea have identified the prolific 29-year-old striker as their top target for the summer window.
As per the same report, the Blues are keen to sign the Poland international forward to prove to Belgium international forward Eden Hazard that the club will be one of the major contenders for the Premier League title next term.
Eden Hazard’s Chelsea future is likely to be a source of rumour this summer transfer window after the West London club missed out on a spot in the UEFA Champions League for next campaign following their fifth-spot finish in the League.
Chelsea set to break transfer record
The same report states that the Blues are set to break their own transfer record to sign the prolific forward, despite the forward turning 30 later in August.
The striker has been in brilliant form for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich this term, netting 41 goals and creating three assists across all competitions for the club.
The Blues managed to finish the campaign on a high by defeating rivals Manchester United 1-0 in the Emirates FA Cup final on Saturday as they secured their second trophy under Italian Antonio Conte.
