According to reports, Chelsea’s bid to sign Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko from Serie A side AS Roma this transfer window is off after negotiations broke down.
Move called off
As per Daily Star, the proposed transfer for the 31-year-old striker to sign for Chelsea this New Year has fallen through after talks between the two teams broke down.
The same article says that it was believed that a transfer fee had been agreed on between the two sides and that the personal contract terms were the major stumbling block.
However, the report suggests that it is, in fact, the talks between the two sides that have broken down recently.
Chelsea plan to reinforce
The Blues have been linked heavily with a transfer for Edin Dzeko this window as manager Antonio Conte looks to reinforce his attacking line before the transfer deadline.
Chelsea have already completed a deal to sign England midfielder Ross Barkley from Everton at the start of the year.
FA Cup Progress
Meanwhile, Conte’s side moved to the fifth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Newcastle United at the Bridge.
The west London outfit will now turn their focus back to League affairs and their home encounter against AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday.
