Premier League Champions Chelsea remain confident of securing the services of England international midfielder Danny Drinkwater and reportedly feels Leicester City are only delaying to sell as they are seeking for a replacement.

The Leicester City star emerged as a transfer target for the Blues after the West Londoners sold Serbian Nemanja Matic to Premier League rivals Manchester United.

The 27 years old, helped the Foxes win a remarkable Premier League title back in 2016 and has grown into one of Leicester’s most important players since joining the club five years ago.

Former Italy Coach Conte is thought to be a huge admirer of the midfield maestro and feels the former Man United development player can contribute the much-needed competition to his team at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have shown willingness to splash around £25million on the midfielder but Leicester City, determined to keep the squad intact, value the England international at around £40m.

But the Telegraph claims the Blues are still hopeful of securing a deal before the summer transfer window closes on Thursday night.

The Publication also claimed that the Chelsea target is keen on a transfer to Stamford Bridge despite the prospect of battling for a starting shirt at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte is also thought to be keen on Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Everton’s Ross Barkley.
