According to British tabloid the London Evening Standard via Shoot, Chelsea head Coach Antonio Conte is closing in on a transfer deal with Arsenal to secure the services of attacker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin.

The Reigning Premier League Champions, who shockingly lost their season opening league match 3-2 against Burnley, are suggested to be lacking in depth, having sold Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic to Premier League rivals Manchester United and having their Spanish striker Diego Costa in exile.

The 24-year-old, rated £35 million would be Antonio Conte’s fifth signing to Chelsea this summer transfer window, as he looks to strengthen his team in the hope of winning a second consecutive English Premier League title.

England international Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has 27 international caps under his belt for England National men Football team, netted six goals and made 11 assists in 45 matches in all competitions for the Emirate side last campaign, and while the North London club finished in fifth place in the Premier league last campaign, however, the club did lift the English FA Cup trophy, after beating Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final at the Prestigious Wembley Stadium 2-1.

The Blues are believed to need to pay a transfer fee of about £35 million to convince the Gunners to sell as they face the possibility of losing Oxlade for free next summer transfer window.
