Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez went away to Chile to play two FIFA World Cup Qualifiers for his National team but was not fully match fit, and his Nation lost both games and could now scuffle to reach the FIFA World Cup Finals next year June.
After those matches, one of his former tacticians said that he was fat and not fit amongst other accusations.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger only played the Chile international forward for the final 15 minutes against AFC Bournemouth last Saturday, and confirmed that he is not really ready to play a full match, but denied he is nowhere near being ‘fat’.
“He is a disciplined player, serious and committed attacker,” Arsene Wenger said after the match. “He (Sanchez) is focused.
He (Sanchez) told me (Arsene Wenger) he is focused on the (English) Premier League and UEFA Europa League. On top of that Sanchez had a bad experience, but he retired full of intent and was set to play.
“He (Sanchez) is not fat (big). His (Sanchez’s) fat percentage is under (below) ten, so that’s not fat (big), but you know how it is when you do not win (games), people find every issue for you (the tactician).
“He (Sanchez) was not physically fit to start (a match) three matches in one week and certainly for Chile (National team) he was not fully ready also.”
