Latest report emanated that Nigerian youngster Kelechi Nwakali has rejected the chance to return from his loan in January and had instead opted to remain with MVV Maastricht where he has been impressing this season.
The talented midfielder was reportedly sent out on loan at the start of the season when Arsenal were unable to get him a UK work permit. The Gunners however put a clause on his contract that would allow him to return to the North London club during this window if at all he was not happy at his new home or perhaps felt unsettled.
The CEO of ASJ Academy, Emeka Amajiriaku told allnigeriasoccer.com that Kelechi Nwakali was actually given the option to return to Arsenal in January, but the player wants to remain at MVV because he wants to help them gain promotion to the Eredivisie.
“When Kelechi came to Nigeria for the Christmas break, he was very happy and had very nice things to say about MVV.” Emeka said.
Nwakali is the Nigeria u20 captain and is one of the best among his peers. With 11 appearances in the Jupiler League this season, he is already showing an excellent attitude as he adapts to live away from home for the first time.
