Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte is expecting a tough challenge from Chelsea when both teams meet at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening for the Carabao Cup final.
The two teams will contest the first piece of silverware on offer in the English top flight this season with Manchester City starting as heavy favourites.
The Citizens are also the defending champions after they saw off North London giants Arsenal in last year’s final via a 3-0 victory.
A lot of football fans and pundits have predicted an easy win for Manchester City but French defender Laporte is having none of that.
In his pre-match thoughts with the Manchester Evening News (MEN) ahead of the game, Aymeric Laporte praised the quality of players in the Chelsea squad despite the recent run of poor results including a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City in their second league meeting of the season.
Laporte believes that Manchester City will have to work hard for their victory and that it won’t be easy like what was obtainable when both teams met two weeks ago in the aforementioned league clash.
Chelsea offered a meek resistance at the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City put six goals past them for their heaviest defeat in Premier League history.
