English Premier League (EPL) leaders Chelsea has been strongly linked with unsettled Inter Milan midfielder Jeffrey Kondogbia as a potential replacement for outgoing Nigerian midfielder John Mikel Obi ahead of the January transfer window expected next month.

The French international midfielder Jeffrey Kondogbia made a multi million pounds move to Italian Serie A side Inter Milan from French side AS Monaco at the start of last season however he has not lived up to his reputation at the San Siro with former Juventus manager Antonio Conte ready to give him an escape route from his predicament in Italy.

He is likely to replace John Mikel Obi, who has spent over a decade at the club and has been linked with a move away with just six months left on his contract.

Chelsea could get their man in the next few weeks with Inter Milan also keen to effect the sale of Kondogbia however they will have to see off the challenge of fellow title rival Liverpool in their pursuit of the player.

The Stamford Bridge outfit already have a big advantage with the team currently leading the English Premier League (EPL) table in addition to being a near certainty as far as qualification for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) next season is concerned.
