Liverpool Backed To Reach Champions League Final
Liverpool legend John Arne Riise has revealed that the Reds will reach the Champions League final this year just like they did in 2018.
Riise talked about Liverpool ahead of their Champions League quarterfinal second leg meeting with Portuguese champions FC Porto.
Liverpool are in pole position to secure a last four berth in the competition having already won the first leg 2-0 at Anfield.
Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino scored the goals for Liverpool as they established a foothold in the quarterfinal tie.
In the exclusive interview with Goal, John Arne Riise revealed that the away performance at German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich suggested that Liverpool could go all the way to the 2019 Champions League final.
Liverpool stunned Bayern Munich 3-1 in front of their fans with a brace from Sadio Mane as the Reds secured a quarterfinal spot via the second leg display of the last 16 tie between the two giants of European football.
The Reds reached the final of the competition last year before they were beaten by Spanish club Real Madrid.
Ex-Tottenham Hotspur player Gareth Bale scored twice in that game which Real Madrid won 3-1.
John Arne Riise is in the best position to make a firm prediction about Liverpool having won the same competition for the Reds during the 2004/05 season.
