According to reports, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants the club to sign Nice star Jean Michael Seri even if they go ahead to sack manager Antonio Conte this summer window.
Owner wants reinforcement
The Daily Mirror is claiming that the Chelsea owner wants the London club to land the 26-year-old midfielder in the 2018 window.
The same report states that the player is a long-term target for the former Premier League champions but the West Londoners face stiff competition from Spain and England.
Stiff competition ahead
Indeed, Premier League giants like Liverpool and Arsenal have both been connected with a move for the Ivorian, while he was believed to be close to a move to Barcelona last summer transfer window.
As per the same report, the Chelsea owner wants to rebuild the squad even if current manager Antonio Conte departs at the end of the current season.
The Blues are in the fifth position in the English Premier League log and 27 points behind already crowned champions Manchester City despite lifting the title with two matches to spare last season.
Chelsea can still end the campaign with some trophy if they manage to beat rivals Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup final next month.
