Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has backed England international striker Danny Welbeck to head to next year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia with England National team.
The French tactician says that he thinks Danny Welbeck will be in the travelling squad if he is fit enough at the time of team selection.
Danny Welbeck has netted 15 goals in 36 appearances for his national team in his playing career to date, with his very recent one coming against Malta in September – his first appearance in over 12 months.
Coming into the FIFA World Cup in Russia next year, the Arsenal star has grabbed just one goal at a major international competition. The striker netted in a 3-2 victory over Sweden in the European Championship in 2012.
The center-striker has found the net three times in six matches for the Gunners this term and will be hoping to keep his match fitness up and give himself the best opportunity of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
Arsene Wenger, Speaking to The Mirror, said the Arsenal striker has potential to go to Russia if he is fit. The French tactician confirmed that Danny has a top physical quality, good movement of the ball and plays well with the team.
