Chelsea summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko was left out of the starting squad that clashed with Arsenal on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, and his new manager Antonio Conte has admonished him to strive to get better with the tactical and physical aspects of his game.
Amongst the new players Chelsea signed during the past summer transfer window, former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata was the only one who was included in the starting XI at the Sunday London Derby.
And despite that Bakayoko played during the Champions League 6-0 win over Qarabag on Tuesday, former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is the one Conte chose to partner with N’Golo Kante at the center of the park against the Gunners.
Since making his £40 Million move to Stamford Bridge from Monaco, Tiemoue has been featured just twice for Chelsea and has been advised by his new manager not to get discouraged, but to take after the steps of his compatriot Kante at the club.
The Italian tactician, speaking after leaving the Frenchman on the bench for the premier league game, said he’s expecting the midfielder to improve his tactical and physical aspects.
“[Bakayoko] needs a bit more time than other players to understand our style of football [at Chelsea] very well.” Conte said.
The manager also hailed former Leicester City man N’Golo Kante for making huge strides at his side last season, and he tasked Tiemoue to do the same thing.
