The Premier League is beginning to get tougher as we enter into the festive period where things become more intense, hectic and tiring.
Irrespective of the tiring nature of the League during this time, strikers are competing for different personal awards, including the golden boot prize —an award for the top goalscorer.
Who are presently in the race for the accolade?
Manchester City are in good goalscoring form, their strikers have been finding the back of the net for fun so far this season.
Just as the Etihad outfits, Liverpool are equally doing well at the moment. The Reds are yet to taste defeat after 13 rounds of matches and they would be hoping to make it 14 against Everton later tonight.
Apart from their unbeaten run, the Reds have been able to score some goals, though, not as much as the League leaders and title holders Manchester City.
Here are five players who are actively involved in the race for this season’s golden boot award
Sergio Kun Aguero
The Argentine is in a rich veil of form and he’s being one of the forces behind city’s impressive goalscoring feat.
He has started this season from where he stopped during last season and he’s being able to score eight goals to top the goalscorer’s chart
Raheem Sterling
The England international continued his meteoric rise to fame under Pep Guardiola. Since the Spanish manager stepped his feet at the Etihad stadium, the much-maligned winger/striker has grown from hatred to being loved among the Citizens supporters.
His speed and decision-making has improved tremendously, thanks to Guardiola’s mentorship and advice.
So far, he’s scored eight League goals after 14 matches. He was on target against Bournemouth in yesterday’s 3-1 victory over the Cherries.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Arsenal man needs no introduction, he was one of the most lethal strikers in his days at Borussia Dortmund.
His arrival to the Emirates Stadium has brought spark and threat to the Gunners frontline since last season.
This season has been another great season for him so far. Despite his unimpressive start to this campaign, the Gabonese striker has scored eight goals making him the joint leading goalscorer alongside the two Manchester City stars.
Having scored 14 goals from 16 Premier League matches he’s played on Sunday, it won’t be out of place to say that the forward could find the back of the net against Tottenham in today’s North London Derby.
Harry Kane
Tottenham most lethal striker in recent seasons, the England international has hit 7 goals and is definitely in good shape to add more before the end of this current campaign.
After facing so many criticisms after his four-match goal drought at the early stage of the season, the England’s poach-man is in great form and he’s in the race for the highly rated personal glory.
Glenn Murray
The surprise package the season have seen so far, Glenn Murray has scored 7 goals to be in contention for the prize.
His blistering start is still a mistery to many pundits, considering his age, however, he has used his experience to his advantage.
Should he continue in this form, it won’t be surprising to see him win the prize come May next year.
Eden Hazard
Despite his irregular goalscoring prowess, the Belgian star is more like a striker under Maurizio Sarri.
He has scored seven goals, helping the Blues record 12-match unbeaten streak which was eventually ended by Tottenham last weekend.
Other worthy mentions include
Aleksandar Mitrovic– Fulham– 7 goals
Mohammed Salah — Liverpool– 7 goals
Callum Wilson — Bournemouth– 7 goals
