Arsenal stalwart’s future in serious doubt as Wenger looks to recall loanee

Arsenal loanee Wojciech Szczesny has revealed that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants him back at the Emirate club when his spell with Roma comes to an end.

Wojciech has spent the last 18 months out on loan with the Serie A club where he was playing regular football and showing his quality. He is expected to remain until the summer.

Rumours had it that the Polish International could sign a permanent deal at the end of the season with Roma at the end of the season. However, he just delivered a contracting assessment of his situation.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, he said he isn’t yet sure of his future, but his future is in the hands of Wenger who has been the controlling man since he was 16.

The goalkeeper has helped Roma secure the second-best defensive record in Serie A so far this season with seven clean sheets in the process.

“I am happy and satisfied that two clubs are interested in my performances – one that wants to [keep me] and the other that wants me to come back.” he added.

If Arsenal want him back, then we should ask questions about Petr Cech’s future at the Emirate club. Considering that reserve goalkeepers David Ospina and Emiliano Martinez are staying put, we only imagined how Arsene Wenger intend making everyone happy.

Former Chelsea keeper Cech has received a handful of criticism this season. If Szczesny is added to the pack, the 34-year-old would feel the pressure of keeping his place in the starting line-up.
