Chelsea have undoubtedly been brilliant at the back under Antonio Conte. However, it appears he desire more reinforcements in the back.
New reports stated that the Blues are ready to sign Dutch international and Lazio star Stefan De Vrij.
It was said that the 24-year-old central defender will be leaving the Serie A club next summer and he desire moving to England where the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United are in a battle to secure his services, as he was highly rated by the duo of Conte and Mourinho.
It was also added that De Vrij was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford when Louis van Gaal was still boss. Sport Witness also published last month that the former Feyenoord defender is ready to leave Lazio to join Jose Mourinho at Man United.
The red devils spent heavily to sign Eric Bailly last summer and Mourinho even has a handful of quality central defenders in the squad.
Antonio Conte on the other hand brought players like David Luiz and Marcos Alonso to Stamford Bridge last summer, and both of them have performed brilliantly for the Blues this season.
Other defenders like John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic have past their best. So, Conte must push to beat Mourinho and sign De Vrij who will largely strengthen his back line. In 12 league appearances this season, the €40Million-rated player has one goal to his name.
