According to reports, Arsenal are in a four-way transfer battle with Swansea City, Southampton, and Brighton in the race to complete the move of Novara striker Alessio Da Cruz.
The 20-year-old Netherland international forward has shone in the Italian Serie B this campaign, netting five goals in 12 matches so far in the Italian second tier.
The Daily Mirror mentioned Arsenal as among his suitors, with top European clubs like Dutch side Ajax also believed to have scouted Da Cruz at some point in the past.
Fans of the North London side, however, will surely question the clubs decision to sign an inexperienced starlet like this when the club’s need for big players has arguably never been much greater.
Arsenal trio of Jack Wilshere, Alexis Sanchez, and Mesut Ozil are all heading out of the club being free agents when the season ends, with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger likely to have to spend huge sums to replace the players.
Recently, the Daily Star claimed the Gunners could be in for Olympique Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir in that role, and Fekir is more the caliber of player the North Londoners need.
Still, the Novara striker, Da Cruz could be a useful signing for the future if the Gunners can lure the striker to the Emirates.
