Chelsea currently have one of the best midfield in the premier league, and one of the best midfielders in the world – in the person of N’Golo Kante, the Frenchman who went home with this season’s premier league player of the Year Award.

However, it seem Chelsea Italian boss Antonio Conte desire adding more strength to his midfield ahead of next season, because, according to reports, the former Italy head coach is closing in on signing Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio.

Claudio Marchisio has worked with Conte both when he was still at Juventus, and when he was still coaching the Italian national side. The Chelsea boss knows his worth, and despite that an initial £17 million offer has been rejected by Juve already, Conte is still confident that he can strike a summer deal and bring the midfielder to London.

Chelsea already have strong superb midfielders, in the persons of Nemanja Matic, N’Golo Kante, and former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas. But it appears the manager is keen on adding more power to the department.

It was reported that Chelsea’s opening £17 million bid for the player was rejected by the Serie A club, but they could do business with the west London club if it is raised to something above £25 million.

Chelsea are likely to be in the Champions League next season, and it is understandable that the manager is trying to add more experienced players to his squad ahead of a busy term next season.
