Spanish star player Alberto Moreno thought his career was over at Anfield last term from the moment his German manager started picking James Milner ahead of him in the left-back position.
Last season, Moreno was regarded as a major weakness in Jurgen Klopp’s defense following a string of terrible performances, and he lost his role to midfielder James Milner – who was converted to the left-back post by Klopp.
And when Jurgen Klopp signed Andrew Robertson during the summer transfer window, we all thought everything is over for the Spaniard at Anfield, and we expect the arrival of Andy to shove Moreno further down the pecking order at the club.
However, the former Sevilla defender has worked very hard to establish himself as Jurgen’s first choice this season, and he has evolved into one of the most important members in the squad right now.
Obviously, his superb turnaround this term is one he himself could not envisaged few months ago, but hard works and determination pays!
Speaking to Spanish news outlet Marca recently, Alberto described his current situation at his club as a ‘strange’ one.
He made it known he was never comfortable with the idea of seeing a right-footed midfielder like Milner playing at the left-back last season, and the manager didn’t give him an explanation about why it is so.
But according to Moreno, ‘My idea was to stay, work and earn the position.’
And right now, he is back on track!
