Wake up Sarri, Conte did it in one season

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has replied to his critics who are beginning to doubt his ability to lead the Blues to the Premier League title.

The former Napoli manager asked for more time, making Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as a case study.
“I don’t know what to answer. I don’t know. What happens if Guardiola had no time in City? He asked rhetorically.

According to him, the former Barcelona manager struggled in his first season at the Etihad Stadium. The 59-year-old further revealed that it isn’t easy to win a League title that is as competitive as the English League.

“You have to play every three days. You have no time to work or improve the team, so it’s really a very difficult situation. You need a season just to understand the real situation here.” he said

Truly Pep Guardiola failed to win any trophy in his maiden season as the Citizens manager, that shouldn’t be an excuse for Sarri’s failure.

Maurizio Sarri shouldn’t look elsewhere for inspiration, Antonio Conte — his compatriot and predecessor — is the perfect person to look up to.

Conte joined the Blues from Juventus during the 2016-17 season as he replaced interim manager Guus Hinddink who couldn’t take the team above 10th position.

The Italian manager, just like Sarri, brought new tactical approach into the system. He got some players whom he believed would get the job done for him.

His stay at Stamford Bridge in his first season was hugely successful as he led the team to another Premier League glory.

Indeed Sarri didn’t make excuses for himself, instead, he followed the footsteps of his compatriots including Carlo Ancelotti and Claudio Ranieri, who lifted the League trophy at some point in their coaching careers.

Sarri should learn from his compatriot and charge up his players in their desire to win the Premier League glory.

Asking for more time simply means Sarri is already writing himself out of title race, hence, he’s equally killing the little zeal left in the players.

In all fairness to Sarri, winning the League in the first season at any Premier League club is very difficult and unlikely but he shouldn’t quit so soon.

The season is just 15 weeks old, there are still 23 matches to play and everything is still at stake.

Manchester City VS Chelsea

However, Sarri’s claim about Guardiola’s debut season in England could be one of his mind games as he prepares to face the Citizens.

Chelsea were surprisingly defeated by Wolves on Wednesday but the Blues will be looking to return back to winning ways against an in-form and free-scoring Manchester City.

The Etihad outfits are on 41 points from 15 matches and they are yet to taste defeat. It is yet to be seen if the Blues are capable of making them suffer their first defeat of the campaign.

On present form, the Blues are far from being the team who will make Guardiola’s men lost maximum points for the first time as they are looking like a team short of confidence and winning mentality.

However, there’s no impossibility in football especially when two big teams are locking horns with themselves.
