Merseyside giants Liverpool will need to come up with a club-record offer in their bid to sign Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Frenkie De Jong.

According to the report from popular English media outlet Daily Mirror, Dutch Eredivisie giants Ajax Amsterdam will only sanction a transfer away from the club for De Jong if they get at least £75m for him.

Apart from Liverpool, several European sides are also interested in the Dutch international player.

European heavyweights such as Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona, English Premier League holders Manchester City and Manchester United have all been strongly linked with the 21-year-old.

Liverpool broke their transfer record in the penultimate transfer window in January when they paid £75m to secure the services of Dutch international centre-back Virgil Van Dijk from fellow English top flight club Southampton.

The player could swell the Dutch contingent at Anfield to three.
The duo of Van Dijk and midfielder Giorginio Wijnaldum are already on the payroll of the Reds.
