234sport.com writer Timothy Aiyeku has opined that English Premier League outfit Man United must tender an open apology to former manager Jose Mourinho after seeing their side defeated again by Man City on Wednesday night.
Man United were defeated 2-0 at the Old Trafford to make it their seventh in nine games under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and they have failed to record a clean sheet in their last 12 consecutive games across all competitions.
This speaks well of the quality of defense in the team as it is the first time the club have suffered this level of embarrassment since 1971.
Now that United are struggling to win, everyone is now paying attention to their defensive worries which have been hammered upon by Jose Mourinho at the start of the season. He had predicted a “very difficult season” and that is now playing out.
An effort to have it corrected failed and that was the reason he allegedly had an outburst with the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward but no one believed him despite his vast experience in the game.
However, the Portuguese boss remains a well-respected manager in the world but he was humiliated and sent away by the Red Devils team as his rift with former players was fronted alongside the negative results.
Man United will be honorable enough as a team to tender an apology to the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss now that it has been confirmed that he was never wrong and the situation would have been averted if they had listened to him.
