Premier League leaders Liverpool might need to show appreciation to Arsenal manager Unai Emery for the transfer of star forward Mohamed Salah.

This is after the Spanish tactician revealed that he came close to signing Egyptian international star Salah while he was the Paris Saint Germain (PSG) manager.

Unai Emery made this known while he was fielding questions from reporters during his pre-match press conference ahead of the huge Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The former Valencia and Almeria manager revealed that PSG were interested in Mohamed Salah while he was with Italian Serie A side AS Roma but they had doubts about him and that ultimately stopped any transfer for him.

Salah moved to Liverpool afterwards and as they say, the rest is history.

The 26-year-old has been in sensational form for the Reds since he walked through the Anfield door at the start of last season.

He scored on his debut in a 3-3 draw with Watford at the Vicarage Road in the Premier League and went on to score 44 goals in all competitions in just 52 games.

He has already scored 16 goals in all competitions this season ahead of the meeting with the Gunners.
