Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger got everyone surprised by handing Alexandre Lacazette a surprise start on Saturday evening at the Emirates Stadium in the premier league clash against Manchester United.
Lacazette picked an injury during his side’s 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night and his French manager ruled him out of the squad that will face Jose Mourinho’s side on Saturday.
It was made known that the striker trained without problems on Friday, and was surprisingly among the Arsenal party for the crucial premier league game.
Lacazette is leading the attack for his side alongside Alexis Sanchez – who also picked a knock against Huddersfield.
In-form star player Mesut Ozil was also included in the starting XI against Jose Mourinho’s side. The Germany international has been strongly linked with the Old Trafford club in recent times.
For Man United, manager Jose Mourinho also handed Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic a start in the game. The former Chelsea player was forced off during the Tuesday game against Watford at Vicarage Road.
As expected, the trio of Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof were in the backside for Manchester United, in front of No. 1 goalkeeper David De Gea.
After the clash with Arsene Wenger’s side, all attention will be towards the Manchester Derby next weekend.
