“I wasn’t ready” – Prolific striker breaks silence on Chelsea transfer links

AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko has admitted that he was not ready for a move to FA Cup winner Chelsea in the winter transfer window.

The prolific goal scorer was strongly tipped as a possible transfer target for the west London outfit as manager Antonio Conte looked to strengthen his front line ahead of the second stanza of the campaign.

However, a switch failed to happen as the forward ended up staying at the Serie A club and the Blues eventually brought in Olivier Giroud from City rivals Arsenal in the winter transfer window.

A lot of rumour linking the Blues with a number of new players this summer is expected as they attempt to challenge favourably for the English Premier League next term.

It remains to be realized, though, whether former Manchester City striker Dzeko will be tipped as another transfer target for Chelsea.

And the forward has now spoken about his failed transfer to Chelsea in the New Year following the end of the campaign.

Dzeko told the Evening Standard that the West London club is a big challenge and he knows what kind of a team that is, having played at Manchester City and he wasn’t prepared to move to Stamford Bridge.

He confirmed nobody he spoke to wanted me to go to the West London club so he opted to stay.
