Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has insisted his team have nothing to fear about locking horns with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday in Kiev.

Liverpool star send a strong message to club

Liverpool are in the UEFA Champions League final clash thanks to a 7-6 aggregate victory against AS Roma in the semi-final.

The Reds have also beaten FC Porto and Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will lock horns with the current Champions League holders after the Spanish side won 4-1 against Juventus at the Millennium Stadium last season.

Real Madrid have won the European elite competition twice successively in the past three campaigns under manager Zinedine Zidane to underline their Champions League dominance.

Facing Europe’s greatest club

Talking to Liverpool FC’s website about the prospect of playing the 13-time Champions League winners, The Dutchman was bullish about Liverpool’s chances.

The Reds haven’t won the competition since 2005 when they defeated AC Milan via a penalty shootout after coming from 3 goals down in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Merseysider’s were 1-0 winners against the Los Blancos in their only previous encounter in the European Cup final back in 1984.

They finished the Premier League season in the fourth position ahead of the Blues.
