Liverpool Duo Maintain Form In Thumping Belarus Win
The Liverpool duo of Virgil Van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum maintained their good form after both players hit the back of the net in the Netherlands’ big win over Belarus.
The Netherlands thrashed Belarus 4-0 at home with the aforementioned players getting on the scoresheet.
The two Liverpool players had been a major contributor to the Reds’ ascent to the top of the Premier League table and they were able to transfer that form to national team duty.
Memphis Depay gave the Netherlands a perfect start in their opening game in the European Championship 2020 (Euro 2020) qualifiers.
The former Manchester United player scored inside the first minute before he turned provider for Wijnaldum to double the Netherlands’ advantage in the 21st minute.
Memphis Depay scored the Netherlands’ third goal of the game from the spot for his brace before Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk wrapped up the easy win over Belarus.
Liverpool have had a sensational Premier League campaign and both Van Dijk and Wijnaldum have been a big part of that.
Both players were in action for the Reds just before the start of the international break as they saw off stubborn Fulham 2-1 away from home to secure the Premier League summit.
