Chelsea legend Andy Townsend says France international midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is not good enough to play for Chelsea.
Massive pressure on summer signing
The reigning English Premier League champions signed the midfielder in a £40million deal from French Ligue 1 title winners Monaco last summer transfer window.
His arrival led to the exit of Serbian Nemanja Matic to Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The exit of the Serbian heaped so much pressure on the 23-year-old Frenchman to hit the ground running at the club immediately given the massive void in midfield.
However, the box-to-box midfielder has struggled to get use to the English League after he took time to return to full fitness.
The France international endured a horrible 30 minutes before he was red-carded in Chelsea’s 4-1 defeat at Watford earlier in the month.
Not good enough
Former Chelsea defender Andy Townsend feels Bakayoko still has not got to the needed level to perform well in the Blues squad.
The Blues won the English Premier League title with two matches to go the last term after ending seven points above North London outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
Conte’s team relied heavily on Nemanja Matic throughout the 2016/2017 League season but still offloaded the Serbian to one of their direct title rivals.
