Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has said that it would be seen as a “failure” if his side fails to win the UEFA Champions League this campaign.
The France international midfielder has been settling properly at Stamford Bridge since joining from French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the last summer transfer window.
The midfielder has been nailing down a regular spot in Conte’s team in recent weeks as he tries to help the club challenge favourably for honours on several fronts.
The Blues will look to challenge for the UEFA Champions League crown this campaign after missing out on a spot in Europe altogether last season.
And Bakayoko has raised the bar high for Chelsea as he discussed their ambitions in Europe this season.
Talking to Chelsea’s official website before the match against Qarabag on Wednesday, Bakayoko said the aim with the Blues this season is to win the UEFA Champions League.
“If you [Chelsea] don’t win it [Champions League], it’s [the season is] a failure.”
The Blues booked their spot in the last 16 of the competition on Wednesday with a 4-0 victory at Qarabag.
The French midfielder will be hoping to play a part when his side returns to domestic League action on Saturday with a crucial clash against Liverpool at the Anfield Stadium.
